Yesterday, I introduced you to the new digital series from New Form Digital, The Fourth Door. If you haven’t watched the first four episodes on the go90 YouTube channel yet, I highly recommend watching before reading this post as it may contain spoilers pertaining to the plot.
The Fourth Door is the story of one woman’s journey with a young boy named Colin (Reid Miller) that she protects as they navigate the strange and dangerous world of Limbo. On this journey, Lain (Monique Coleman) must confront memories and monstrous fears to save herself and the man she loves.
The series also stars Joey Graceffa as Raef, Jarrett Sleeper and Gabriel, and Michael Antosy as Adult Colin. The series was directed by Tony E. Valenzuela, BlackboxTV.
As the first episode opens, the viewer is thrust into the story with as much information as the main character, Lain, has—none. She wakes up in an elevator dressed as her favorite comic book hero with no memory of how she got there and has no choice except to enter a strange desert where she meets a thirteen-year-old boy dressed as an astronaut who is just as lost as she is.
From the very first beat, the viewer is challenged to face their own fears head on. Whether it is the fear of being alone, the fear of getting lost, the fear of losing something or someone close to you, or the fear of coming to terms with something that has already happened, The Fourth Door takes those difficult fears and tackles them in a way that viewers are so entranced with Lain overcoming her fears that they don’t realize they are also being challenged to overcome fears of their own.
Facing my fears is always a daily struggle. We all have fears of our own that, if we let them, they could control us and keep us captive in our own bodies. Like this series has done, I challenge you to find ways to face your own fears each day. Make a list of the things that you fear most, whether they are internal or tangible, and takes small steps each day towards overcoming them. Just like Lain, you’ll learn from yourself, your mistakes, and your past to become stronger than you could ever imagine.
The first four episodes are available to watch on YouTube now. Episodes 5-12 have been exclusively released on the go90 app on both iPhone and Android. Disclaimer: Though I am already a fan of the series, I have been hired by New Form Digital to raise awareness for The Fourth Door on go90.
