Like many of you, I grew up with Little Women, and like many of you, I wanted to be Jo March when I grew up – a writer, a thinker, a free woman. So, of course, the new trailer for the 2019 adaptation of this book has got feeling all the things.
And, no, one of those things isn’t rage that Jo rejected Laurie. That is just the way of the world. I SAID WHAT I SAID.
If you, for some godforsaken reason, have never read Little Women, the book follows the lives of the four March sisters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy— and details their passage from childhood to womanhood. It is loosely based on the author, Louisa May Alcott, and her three sisters. And you should absolutely read it before the movie comes out, because books are always better than movies, I said what I said – once again.
Here’s the trailer for the new adaptation, which is set to be released on Christmas Day this year, and which, despite my forever loyalty to the book, looks pretty darn good. The movie was directed by Greta Gerwig and it stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, Laura Dern, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper and James Norton.
Are you excited for the movie?
