Week 8 arrives with a ton of questions left to ponder.
What is wrong with the Broncos?
Will Tom Brady ever age?
Are the Eagles the best team in the NFL?
Will the Browns ever win?
Some of these are easy to answer while some will always be unsolved mysteries. As week 8 begins, your favorite crew at Fangirlish will try once again to predict the unpredictable that is the 2017 NFL season. So read then and weep ( for us).
Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens (TNF)
Alyssa: Dolphins 21, Ravens 9 – The Dolphins might be minus Jay Cutler, but unfortunately the Ravens still have Joe Flacco at quarterback.
Lizzie: Dolphins 21, Ravens 10 – I don’t know, I’m going with my gut here, since my brain doesn’t seem to be doing that well. And I guess the Ravens suck more?
Charles: Ravens 21, Dolphins 14 – This season is wacky so I’m going to go with the upset.
Katherine: Dolphins 28, Ravens 13 – The Dolphins have looked good the past couple of weeks with two come from behind victories, and though Cutler suffered several cracked ribs in their last game, Matt Moore looked pretty good in the end against the Jets.
Minnesota Vikings vs. Cleveland Browns
Alyssa: Vikings 27, Browns 9 – The Browns continue to challenge the 2008 Detroit Lions perfect winless season.
Lizzie: Vikings 28, Browns 7 – The one game I can probably predict! Thank God for the Browns.
Charles: Vikings 28, Browns 16 – Browns are terrible but can make it a game for a while at least.
Katherine: Vikings 31, Browns 12 – This is an unfortunate matchup to be the one that is shown in London this week. The Vikings should run right through the Browns who just cannot seem to get it together.
Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Alyssa: Buccaneers 27, Panthers 13 – I don’t know that the hell is happening in Carolina and Cam Newton. But, as someone that doesn’t like Cam, I like it.
Lizzie: Buccaneers 24, Panthers 17 – This is a toss-up, but I hate Cam, so I’m picking the Bucs.
Charles: Buccaneers 24, Panthers 10 – Going with everyone else and picking the Bucs.
Katherine: Buccaneers 27, Panthers 17- This is a game I think could really go either way but given the NFL this year and the wacky results that go against your common sense I am picking the Bucs here.
Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets
Alyssa: Jets 24, Falcons 17 – The Super Bowl Curse continues for the Falcons.
Lizzie: Falcons 21, Jets 10 – Who even knows? They both look real bad lately.
Charles: Falcons 31, Jets 17 – I know Atlanta hasn’t looked great but the Jets are fool’s gold still in my mind.
Katherine: Jets 21, Falcons 10 – Both of these teams are looking pretty poor lately, but after what I saw in New England with the Falcons I am giving the edge to the Jets here, plus conventional wisdom has let me down so far this season.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. New England Patriots
Alyssa: Chargers 27, Patriots 24 – Well, look at the Chargers go. Call me crazy, but my gut is telling me Chargers in this very weird NFL season.
Lizzie: Patriots 24, Chargers 20 – That thing that happened with Denver notwithstanding, these are the Chargers we’re talking about.
Charles: Patriots 34, Chargers 24 – Because they always fucking win, sadly.
Katherine: Patriots 34, Chargers 17 – The Patriots defense seems to have figured out their issues, nearly holding the Atlanta Falcons scoreless, and while the Chargers did hold the Broncos scoreless they are going to face a whole different animal in the Tom Brady led offense.
Oakland Raiders vs. Buffalo Bills
Alyssa: Bills 31, Raiders 24 – I don’t think the Raiders can pull a miracle out of their asses for two straight weeks. Not against this Bills defense.
Lizzie: Bills 30, Raiders – Another toss up I’m saying Bills cause I hate the Raiders more
Charles: Bills 17, Raiders 10 – Bills defense overcomes the Raiders offense in a brutal battle.
Katherine: Bills 27, Raiders 21 – The Raiders played really well against the Chiefs but I think the Bills have it in them to win this game. But again, this is a game that could go either way.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Alyssa: Bengals 14, Colts 6 – This is one game you won’t have to worry about seeing on RedZone on Sunday.
Lizzie: Bengals 14, Colts 9 – The Colts are about as sure a loss as you get these days in the NFL.
Charles: Bengals 23, Colts 10 – Eh why not pick the Bungals?
Katherine: Bengals 12, Colts 7 – Both of these teams are pretty bad and the positive from this game is that it should get one of them a win.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Alyssa: Eagles 34, 49ers 10 – Carson Wentz is a damn good football player. And, while it pains me to say it, the Eagles are a damn good football team. So going up against a winless 49ers team will only keep this team rolling.
Lizzie: Eagles 38, 49ers 13 – There’s what’s happening in the NFL this season, which granted, has been insane, and then there’s the 49ers pulling this one off. I just don’t see it.
Charles: Eagles 40, 49ers 10 – Time for another 49ers beatdown it looks like.
Katherine: Eagles 35, 49ers 12 – The Eagles are the best team in the NFL right now and the 49ers are one of, if not the worst. The math is easy on this one, if the 49ers pulled this one off it would be one of the biggest upsets I have seen in a long time.
Chicago Bears vs. New Orleans Saints
Alyssa: Saints 27, Bears 20 – This will be the best offense this Bears defense has faced this season, so don’t expect another two defensive scores. As far as the Bears offense goes, if they actually let Trubisky throw the ball they could certainly challenge the Saints. *sings* Let him throw, let him throw!
Lizzie: Saints 41, Bears 20 – Maybe if they actually let Trubisky throw they’d have a chance. But this is John Fox we’re talking about, so that’s not happening.
Charles: Bears 21, Saints 20 – I smell a upset and the Bears are on a roll.
Katherine: Saints 45, Bears 17 – The Saints and Drew Brees look really good this year and are putting up a lot of points. The Bears are improving and won last week but Trubisky only completed four passes.
Houston Texans vs. Seattle Seahawks
Alyssa: Seahawks 27, Texans 24 – I have no idea why, but I’m feeling Seattle here at home.
Lizzie: Texans 27, Seahawks 21 – I have to go against common sense in at least one, right?
Charles: Texans 34, Seahawks 10 – Surprise of the day will be this game not even being close.
Katherine: Texans 24, Seahawks 21 – I feel like this one is going to be close but I also feel like the Texans may be one of the teams to pull off an upset this week.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins
Alyssa: Cowboys 31, Redskins 21 – Well, at least the Redskins aren’t in the NFC East basement.
Lizzie: Cowboys 38, Redskins 10 – Again, this is a common sense pick, and common sense has done me wrong this year. I still can’t pick the Redskins, though.
Charles: Cowboys 34, Redskins 20 – The Demise of the Cowboys is not yet here.
Katherine: Cowboys 45, Redskins 20 – The Cowboys should be able to roll right over the Redskins. Their offensive weapons are better than those of the Redskins and the Redskins gave up a lot of big plays to the Eagles last week.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Detroit Lions (SNF)
Alyssa: Steelers 27, Lions 20 – I want to go Lions here, but Matthew Stafford’s health concerns me until he proves otherwise.
Lizzie: Lions 35, Steelers 20 – The Steelers are either really good or really bad this season. Stafford always puts up a lot of points. Plus, I just don’t like Big Ben.
Charles: Lions 34, Steelers 31 – A big time high-scoring game with a last second FG being the difference.
Katherine: Steelers 31, Lions 17 – The Steelers have played pretty well in their last two but this one also feels like a tossup. I haven’t picked the Steelers in a while though so let’s go with them.
Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs (MNF)
Alyssa: Chiefs 27, Broncos 10 – A divisional game with two teams on losing streaks? This will be a solid win for whichever ball club comes out on top, but the Broncos just look lost right now.
Lizzie: Chiefs 28, Broncos 10 – I hope this is when the Denver team wakes up and we get a crazy upset, but I’ve seen nothing to suggest that. Then again, last time I picked against them they won, so maybe that’s what they need.
Charles: Chiefs 23, Broncos 3 – Not picking Denver again till the offense gets their heads out of their asses.
Katherine:Chiefs 35, Broncos 14 – The Chiefs need to get back on track and this definitely feels like the game to do it, if they don’t then they will have dropped three in a row and I just don’t see that happening.
