Love San Diego and New York Comic-Cons but want a more focused approach to your favorite show? Well, if your favorite is Once Upon a Time, you might be in luck. Twenty years ago a whole convention dedicated to just one show would have been unthinkable, but today, thanks to the success of specialized conventions for series like The Walking Dead and Supernatural, the door has been opened for others to do the same.
In that vein comes news that Creation Entertainment will open the doors to the first official Once Upon a Time convention, to be held in Schaumburg, Illinois, from April 30 until May 1, 2016. No future locations or dates have been announced, but the idea is to have the convention travel across the country, which will mean a different schedule for each year.
Already confirmed to appear in this convention are stars Lana Parrilla (Regina Mills), Rebecca Mader (the Wicked Witch), Sean Maguire (Robin Hood), and Lee Arenberg (Grumpy), with more stars expected to be confirmed in the coming months.
Though there are conventions dedicated to the series, among them the London-based Storybrooke and the Paris-based Fairy Tales, Creation Entertainment’s convention will be the first officially sanctioned fan gathering for the ABC show.
Once Upon a Time airs Sundays, at 8/7c on ABC.
