Season 3 personally I found was the strongest season yet, season 1 focused on more the family getting back to where they felt safe and finding themselves again in New Orleans. Season 2 was more about fighting their own demons within the family and embracing long lost siblings. Season 3 landed on Klaus’s redemption after his actions finally caught up to him and his family.

Throughout their stories we have wished that we could finally witness just how much family means to the Mikaelsons. We have seen them fight for and against each other but we have never watched them really stand with each other and truly be willing to sacrifice their own lives to save another. This is what we saw in season 3.

The season started with the family torn and broken yet when a actual threat comes up against them they realise the importance of family and stand together. Although with being immortal and having serious trust issues this doesn’t surprise us. To see even the siblings make amends with the ones they hate really showed us that they may be selfish and manipulating but they can hurt and become scared. It was refreshing to see the Mikaelsons in the state that we don’t often see, it shows us that somewhere deep down they are still human.

Personally I feel that because of the focus on the vulnerablity and actual fear really made this season and the fact that Klaus finally put his family before himself in aid of forgiveness fo all he has done to them.

I hope that this continues into season 4 as it gives the Mikaelsons the humanity that we all know they have deep down.
