This Droughtlander maybe the toughest yet, but Outlander fans have something to celebrate. After taking a year off from San Diego Comic Con, the hit Starz series is set to return to San Diego Comic Con this year.
The 13-episode third season of Outlander has been highly anticipated by the fans of the series. While the show has taken an extended hiatus until September, it’s all for the best. Season three will follow Diana Gabaldon’s third novel in the series, Voyager and featured a major move to South Africa to film a majority of the season.
Today, Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that Outlander will grace the cover of their September issue. Reporter Lynette Rice also confirmed that Richard Rankin, who plays Roger Wakefield, will be featured on Entertainment Weekly’s annual “Brave New Warriors” panel on Friday, July 21, which celebrates the fierce men of television.
While specific details are still a little while out for the Outlander SDCC panel, we’re excited for more information on season three and to see our favorite highlanders in person!
In season three of Outlander, the story picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank.
Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire’s heart… as well as new doubt.
Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery, and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?
