Players of the Week – NFL Week 1

NFL Week 1 was …well, weird. But isn’t that always the case with week one? We think we know where teams stand, we think we know what players look best, we fill out our fantasy teams and then …week 1 comes and it changes everything.

Absolutely everything.

But then again, even on a weird and surprising week, someone always has to come out on top. So, here are our players of the week for the first week of the NFL season

AFC

Offensive Player: Kareem Hunt, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

Don’t you dare tell me you saw that coming, because NO ONE saw that coming. If Belichick didn’t see it coming, neither did you. For now, Hunt looks like a breakout star. Let’s see if he can keep it up.

Defensive Player: Calais Campbell, DE, Jacksonville Jaguars

Four sacks for Campbell and a dominating defensive effort for the Jaguars who totally steamrolled Houston. Important to note, the former Cardinal had never had 4 sacks in a game in his career.

NFC

Offensive Player: Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions

The NFC didn’t really bring out the offense this week, so  Stafford gets the nod with his almost-300 yard game and 4 TDS. He got a big contract this offseason, and so far, it all looks good.

Defensive Player: ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, THEY ALL SUCK

Yeah, I said it. The NFC had a bad week. The low-scoring games had more to do with offensive incompetence than with good defense. So, no. I’m not picking someone mediocre.
