Players of the Week – NFL Week 3

NFL Week 3

At this point, I don’t even know what’s happening. My fantasy football team is a mess – and I was the indisputed champion, so what a blow to my ego, on top of other things – the standings make absolutely no sense and I feel like I might as well use a coin for my predictions next week. After all, who even knows what’s happening in the NFL these days?

Not that it matters – because kneeling was the story of the week. All the kneeling. A lot of kneeling. More than I expected.

But, on the field, it’s still very, very …well, weird.  And, though it seems like someone should be making sense of it, it won’t be me, not today, not when there’s another, more important story to be told.

Here are our NFL Players of the Week for Week 3:

AFC

The Oakland Raiders

Primetime meant the team couldn’t stay in the locker room as they wanted, least they incurred a 15-yard penalty, so most of the team just sat out the anthem. Strong message with a lot of eyes on them.

Defensive Player: Adam Gotsis, DE, Denver Broncos

The Broncos played an early game, for a change, and Adam Gotsis was kneeling with more than half the team. Why him over others, though, including superstars like Von Miller and Aqib Talib, who were also kneeling? Well, Gotsis is white. And if you think the fact that he was kneeling wasn’t noticed by a whole lot of people, well …you haven’t been paying attention.

NFC

The Dallas Cowbys (AND Jerry Jones)

It hurts me to say it too, trust me. And technically the team kneeled before the anthem. But they still sent a strong message, not just to President Trump, but to the NFL and to all of those who say that protests and sports do not mix.

The Seattle Seahawks

The Titans and Steelers also stayed in the locker room for the anthem, but the Seahawks released a statement that made it very clear that they were not staying inside because they didn’t want to make a decision – they were staying inside because they had.
