One thing that I have learned after having weight loss surgery, is that I have no responsibility to explain my weight gain or loss to anyone. Everyone I know wants to talk about it, comment on it, or tell me that I shouldn’t develop an eating disorder.
I’m not famous and so I can’t even imagine the stress of weight gain or weight loss on a global scale. I have always felt bad for Sasha Pieterse, star of Pretty Little Liars, because as she gained weight, the world seemed to have a million things to say.
But what she didn’t have to address, she did this week while being interviewed for Dancing with the Stars. The star gained weight during the final seasons of Pretty Little Liars.
“I love this song because it really resonates with me about what I’ve been through and what I’m still going through,” Sasha said about dancing to Hailee Steinfeld‘s “Most Girls.” I have to admit that we love that song too and it resonates. It’s a great song of empowerment.
“I gained 70-ish pounds over two years,” she continued. “It was really, really hurtful the way people reacted. People were saying stuff like, ‘she’s pregnant, you’re fat.’ They were angry, they were mad that I look like this.”
She has lost 15 of those pounds and we’re happy for her, because she finally has answers to what has been going on with her.
“[It was] one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. I had no idea what was going on and I didn’t have any way of solving it,” Sasha said. “Very recently I was diagnosed with PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, a hormone imbalance. Finally, I knew why this was happening to me.”
We’re cheering her on! We’re huge fans no matter what she does.
Congratulations to Sasha on all of her accomplishments.
