In true Riverdale fashion, Season 2 ended on a serious cliffhanger – with Archie being arrested moments before he was to be sworn in as student body president. That’s just one event in a series of shocking twists that made up the season, from real estate shakeups to mob dealings to a whole lot of murder. So needless to say, fans have a lot of questions about what’s coming up and how it can possibly top all of that drama.
With San Diego Comic-Con rapidly approaching, let’s take a moment to ask a few of the questions that we hope get answered during the Riverdale panel.
1. What’s the deal with the Archie situation?
Archie’s arrest raises a lot of questions. Will he be on house arrest, or in juvie? (I can’t imagine him faring too well in prison.) Will #FreeArchie generate enough social media buzz to succeed? (Can Veronica call in another favor from Andy Cohen to make that happen?) And perhaps most importantly – will Archie finally gain some common sense? After confronting a literal mobster, naming his victims, and threatening to expose him without wearing a wire, it’s all uphill in that department.
2. What musical performances can we expect from the new season?
On a lighter note, it would be fun to hear the cast and EPs tease some of the performances in store for Season 3. Josie and the Pussycats always kill it (together or solo), so here’s hoping for some more original songs. If you ask me, the musical episode in Season 2 was peak Riverdale, so I’d also love to hear about whether a reprise of that format is in the cards.
3. How’s Serpent life treating the gang?
No pun intended. There have been some big changes in the Southside Serpent lineup, with Jughead officially taking over the leadership position from his father and Cheryl joining the ranks. Those new responsibilities and alliances are sure to impact the lives of our favorite Riverdale residents, so it would be great to hear the cast discuss what we can expect in that area.
4. Are our favorite ships still going strong?
While Archie’s arrest is sure to present some challenges for his relationship with Veronica, we’re not counting Varchie out just yet. We’d love to hear about how they’re holding up, as well as how the waters are looking for our other favorite couples this season. Here’s looking at you, Bughead and Choni.
5. What’s on the signature cocktail menu at Veronica’s speakeasy?
And more importantly, how can we get an invite? In my mind, seeing Veronica’s planned speakeasy in the basement of Pop’s come together is sure to be one of the highlights of the new season. I’m getting serious Gossip Girl vibes and I am so here for it.
Riverdale will appear at San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday, July 22 at 11:45am in Hall H. Season 3 of the series will premiere on October 10 on The CW.
