Anyone who has attended San Diego Comic-Con knows that finding a place to stay is one of the biggest challenges of the convention. You have to get through the Hotelpocalypse online lottery, hope you land a room nearby or on the shuttle route, and then deal with the cost – and often crowded conditions. This year, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Vudu helped to make that headache go away for a lucky grand prize winner with their own offsite installation: the Deadpool 2 Dream Suite.
The Dream Suite was only open to the grand prize winner (who spent a night there), a few additional lucky fans, and members of the media, so we were excited to take a look inside. Let’s just say the best suite at the Hard Rock Hotel has never been decorated quite like this. Modeled after Deadpool’s apartment, the room was fully-stocked with half-finished Ikea furniture, an impressive array of books and movies, and a whole lot of pop culture Easter eggs.
Here are a few of our favorite details from the Dream Suite:
Any room with Twilight is a room we can get behind. Talk about a… diverse selection of reading material.
Look familiar? It was fun to get a closer look at Deadpool’s very thorough diagram from the latest film, which took up an entire wall of the suite.
Posters, crayon drawings, and chimichangas – what’s not to love?
Don’t be afraid to leave your mark, Wade. It’s your Dream Suite, after all.
No hard feelings… right?
Something tells us that Deadpool and Ikea aren’t on the best terms.
The only movies you really need. Just kidding, there were a bunch more in the room – including Titanic on VHS.
Quality shelf decorations.
We also got to check out Deadpool’s Super Duper Dance Party on the show floor, featuring the Merc with a Mouth and his animatronic band of X-Force rejects. Let’s just say there was dancing, and there was Dolly, and a good time was had by all.
