Watching Black-ish every week, we’ve fallen in love with the characters, the storylines, and the way that the show hits the hard issues. It’s just amazing.
And we’re also huge fans of Yara Shahidi. She’s an amazing actress, feminist, and role model.
There have been additions to the cast and we’re so excited about those additions. Francia Raisa (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) and Jordan Buhat (Summer of ’84) have been added as series regulars and singing duo Chloe x Halle (Chloe Bailey and Halle Bailey) in recurring roles.
Francia will portray Ana, an outspoken conservative freshman, Jordan will play Vivek, a first generation Indian-American freshman, and sisters Chloe and Halle will play twin sisters Sky and Jazz, who are on the track team at Southern California University.
If you aren’t familiar with Grown-ish, it’s a spin off of Black-ish. Zoey’s gone off to college and we’ll be following her life away at school. It’s a show about the current issues that students and faculty face. We’re excited to see it.
Also joining Yara Shahidi are Deon Cole, Chris Parnell, Emily Arlook and Trevor Jackson.
We’re going to have to wait sometime to see Grown-ish, it’s not set to premiere until mid-season on Freeform.
