‘Shadowhunters’ Wondercon Interview: Ed Decter, McG, and Isaiah Mustafa

There is a lot to be said about Shadowhunters – but when it comes down to it – these are the people that make the decisions. Ed Decter – the showrunner and McG makes decisions about the way that the show runs, storylines, and more.

It was a pleasure for us that Isaiah Mustafa joined the conversation. We’ve always loved Isaiah – he’s been super kind to us at every turn.

As part of the round tables at Wondercon, we sat down with other journalists and talked about what is happening on the show. We spoke about the alternate universe, what was used from the film, and about Luke being a werewolf.

“I love the remix, mashup culture that sometimes we get in hot water for,” says McG.

While we are fully aware that we speak out about the remixed mashed up culture that we don’t embrace fully – we know that we are not alone. The thing is – we’re rooting for this show – more than we ever have before. It has the potential to be much bigger than it was.

“I think a lot about the books in the stories that we tell. I mean the books exist and the television show exists. And I really really like what Ed is up to in those stories,” says McG, “We don’t always get it right, we do the best we can. You can’t always win every one of those fan discussions.”

Shadowhunters airs Tuesdays on Freeform.

I work a lot. Fangirlish is my baby. I work in social media professionally and I love it - which is probably why I don't keep up on my own. I don't sleep enough and I obsess too much over my favorite things. I need to work on combing my hair more. Or at elast I need to stop dying it different colors.
