“Did you miss me?”
These are the last words we heard from Jim Moriarty, Sherlock’s ultimate nemesis, at the end of the finale episode of Season 3.
These are the words that I distinctly remember leaving me in a pool of shock because before that moment, we all believed Moriarty to be dead.
Jim Moriarty is easily one of my favourite villains from the original Sherlock Holmes stories. He’s smart, cunning, and seemingly always a step ahead; all in all, he’s easily an equal of Sherlock in all the ways that no other character is, not even John Watson or Irene Adler. And now…
Moriarty’s back — maybe.
As we can see from the trailer, Season 4 of Sherlock promises to be bigger and more explosive than ever. Everybody’s lives are at stake and who knows who’s out to get whom. The trailer itself is so ominous and it really keeps us at the edge of our seats, doesn’t it? We really have no idea what’s going on or what’s going to happen in Season 4! Even in the trailer, we only really see Moriarty at the very beginning and Sherlock himself says, “Something’s coming. Maybe it’s Moriarty and maybe it’s not.”
Many times we see trailers and we can easily get an idea of the entire story we’re going to see but that isn’t the case here. I’ve seen the trailer now maybe 5-10 times and I still have no idea what to expect.
I just know this: whatever it is, I’m definitely not ready for it.
And I can’t wait.
Sherlock Season 4 will premiere on January 1, 2017.
