SNOW: Stories of Forbidden Love

It is rare that you come across a new book release as eclectic and varied as my latest review. The world of Wattpad allows for such variation in work, with countless authors taking on just about any type of story their minds can conjure. But getting this in one collection is something more, and is exactly what I’ve been fortunate enough to get an early peak at.

Snow: Stories of Forbidden Love features 16 original short stories but some of your Wattpad favorites, including Kelly Anne Blount, Gaby Cabezut, Shaun Allan, Gavin Hetherington and Rachel Mienke. Many of these writers are Wattpad Stars, Watty Award winners, and some of the best and brightest of the online writing forum, so I came in to this latest read with high hopes. And it definitely delivered.

Genres are varied, from young adult, new adult, paranormal and fantasy, but all with the same theme of snow related frivolity, and hints of forbidden love.

Now, not all the stories in this collection are focused so intently on the forbidden love aspect. With some, it is a wonderful undertone, but does not carry the story itself. They are wide-ranging in theme and focus, from two childhood friends torn apart by their parents selfish acts coming together years later to heal their broken hearts, to a feuding band on their last chance to come together as a collective, or lose it all.

One aspect I loved about this story is the diversity, not only within the themes, but the characters. Love knows no limits, and sometimes it takes being snowed in to allow people to truly come together.

The GOOD

Like I said, I loved the diversity and variety of the stories. I don’t play favorites with anthologies so won’t say which one I’m sitting here still thinking about, but I can assure you that no matter your preference, you will find something to fall in love with in this collection!

Also, you are treated to differing writing styles with each story, giving an interesting flavor to the book that you can almost feel as you move from one to the next.

The BAD

Honestly, there is nothing I can say is actually bad about this collection. Each story has their appealing elements, and while there are some I preferred to others, I enjoyed each one. Some were admittedly a little expected and typically romantic cliché, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t enjoyable.

The RATING

8.5/10

The COMMENT

This is a definite must read for anyone who loves short, to the point, but captivating stories with a similar theme. While they all feature snow and love, they are eclectic and limitless in their execution and you will find that such incredible variety it will keep your interest with each turn of the page.
