Matt Bomer, Lily Collins, & More Stun at Sony’s Social Soiree for ‘The Last Tycoon’ and ‘The Interestings

When you have the opportunity to spend the evening with Matt Bomer and Lily Collins, you don’t say no. We were thrilled to be able to join our friends from That’s Normal at Sony’s Social Soiree earlier this week to do just that. It was the perfect summer evening on the Sony lot, with champagne, pretty people, and a celebration of two exciting shows you should know about – because you can have an impact on them. Here’s an inside look at the event, which spotlighted the cast and creators of The Last Tycoon and The Interestings.

Matt Bomer, Lily Collins, and Rosemarie DeWitt for ‘The Last Tycoon’

Based on the unfinished manuscript of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s last work, and written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Billy Ray (Captain Philips), The Last Tycoon follows Hollywood’s Golden Boy, Monroe Stahr (Matt Bomer) as he battles father figure and boss, Pat Brady (Kelsey Grammer) for the soul of their studio. In a world darkened by the Great Depression and the growing international influence of Hitler’s Germany, The Last Tycoon illuminates the passion, violence and towering ambition of 1930’s Hollywood.

From the little we’ve seen from The Last Tycoon so far, the aesthetic alone has us dying to watch. Old Hollywood, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and an unbelievable cast… We’re already hooked and can’t wait to watch the pilot.

Matt Bomer, Lily Collins, and Rosemarie DeWitt represented the show at the Social Soiree, along with Billy Ray (Writer/Director/EP), Chris Keyser (EP), Joshua Maurer (EP), Alixandre Witlin (EP), and A. Scott Berg (Consulting Producer/ F. Scott Fitzgerald scholar).

We briefly spoke to Matt and Lily, who told us why you should watch The Last Tycoon:

‘The Interestings’

The author, cast, and creators of ‘The Interestings’

The Interestings is an intelligent, character-driven drama that chronicles the evolving relationships between six friends who meet as teenagers while attending an arts camp and how the great expectations of their youth contrast with the realities of their adult lives. Set in three different time periods of these people’s lives; teenage youth at an arts camp, college years and life out of college. It’s based on the best-selling Meg Wolitzer novel.

Anyone who grew up in the arts has to check out The Interestings. We love how this show follows its characters across the decades, offering a unique view of their evolution. Plus, it has its own amazing cast and team. With all of that, this is another pilot we are so excited to watch in full.

Representing at the Social Soiree were Lauren Ambrose, David Krumholtz, Jessica Paré, Matt Barr, and Corey Cott, along with Lynnie Greene (Writer/EP), Richard Levine (Writer/EP), Michael DeLuca (EP), Lindsay Sloane (EP), Meg Wolitzer (Author).
