Here at Fangirlish we continue to support your right to fangirl over any fandom you desire – whether that is a book, a TV show, a movie, or even sports. That’s why we have Stop and Fangirl! So you can feel happy – and confident, loving whatever it is you love.
This week we’re talking about LGBTQIA erasure, especially considering the example set by the new NBC show Rise which changed a gay character to straight so the show-runner could better “relate” to it. We go on to discuss LGBTQIA representation, and how the erasure, sometimes, happens even after a character’s sexuality has been stated, simply by pushing that character’s love life aside and just …focusing on something else.
So, without further ado…stop and fangirl with us! And when you’re done, come and share what shows do representation right and which shows just miss the mark with us.
