No Dylan O’Brien fans, this isn’t a dream. The Maze Runner and Teen Wolf actor will star in not one, but two upcoming thrillers – both of them announced this week, and the latest pairing him with a newly minted Oscar-winning actor.

Deadline announced that O’Brien and Gary Oldman are set to star in crime thriller The Bayou, which will start shooting next month in New Orleans. O’Brien will play Ceto, the protégé of a hitman (Oldman) who becomes determined to save a teenage girl from being sold by a human-trafficking ring.

“The Bayou” is where Oldman’s aging mob hit man Tickie Bordeaux hides his victims. Here’s more about the story from Deadline:

Tickie is mentoring dangerous young Ceto (O’Brien), who lost his kid sister to the crime underworld and now expresses himself on his blues harmonica. They work for crime boss Emmeline, who operates out of a French Quarter gentleman’s club, along with her right hand, Stella the Madame.

Ceto is rising fast, until he secretly spares a 16-year-old runaway named Billie during a killing. The girl follows Ceto and asks for help, because she has nobody else. They develop a brother/sister-type relationship, that ultimately sets Ceto on a violent collision course with his bosses.

This will be Oldman’s first project following his Oscar win for his performance as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, while O’Brien is coming off of successful performances in the Maze Runner franchise, American Assassin, and Deepwater Horizon. Joey King (Wish Upon) will also be joining the cast, and we wouldn’t be surprised if she’s playing Billie.

As badass as this sounds and is sure to be, let’s take a moment to focus on the really important detail here: Dylan O’Brien will be playing the blues harmonica. If that isn’t enough reason to see this movie, we don’t know what is.

The Bayou also continues Dylan’s impressive career evolution, as he takes projects that appeal to both YA and non-millennial audiences and continues to hold his own against industry veterans. Similarly to O’Brien’s starring turn as Mitch Rapp in American Assassin, Ceto sounds like he will be a character that’s a little rougher around the edges. We’re anticipating cool stunts, lots of action, and all the feels.

O’Brien will also star in The Education of Fredrick Fitzell alongside Maika Monroe, as announced earlier this week. As Fred (presumably the title character) in this mystery thriller, Dylan will play “a man who begins to unravel a long hidden mystery about a missing girl, a drug called Mercury, and a terrifying creature that has followed him into adulthood.” That project is also slated to start shooting this summer.
