This week’s Blacklist, “Nicholas T. Moore” was definitely a strange one. It was a Blacklist meets The X Files type of episode. The cult that kidnapped Samar was an incredibly creepy and violent one who labelled anyone outside their community as “The Olo.” If anyone tried to venture outside of the community and then came back (willingly or unwillingly) they were burned alive in order to be purified.
Super dark stuff, but The Blacklist has definitely gone there before. “Nicholas T. Moore” also ended in kind of a cliffhanger as The Task Force was able to rescue the little girl from the cult who had been kidnapped from the hospital with Samar, but for some reason the cult people took Samar somewhere else. Who knows for what reason or why they took her.
For now though, Aram and the Task Force will have to do whatever they can to rescue Samar before something bad happens to her. In the promo for next week, things aren’t looking good. She’s trapped in a car filling with water with Aram and the Task Force desperately searching for her, and they might not save her in time. I really hope that Samar isn’t getting killed off, because we haven’t gotten to find out nearly enough of her backstory, or see her grow into the more complex character that she has the potential to be.
Red also continued his search for the suitcase, but didn’t have much luck. He thought his ex-wife Naomi (Jennifer’s mother) would be able to help, but Jennifer showed him her grave, so he won’t be getting any help there. He’s also going to have to take a detour from his trip to Costa Rica to follow a possible lead on the suitcase in order to help the Task Force find Samar before it’s too late. Sometimes it does seem like Red doesn’t care enough about The Task Force, but when it really comes down to it, he’ll help save whoever needs saving. He’s done it for Ressler, Cooper, and Liz, and he’ll definitely do it for Samar because he respects her almost more than everyone else (except for Liz of course).
I don’t know if anyone else feels the same way, but Jennifer is also extremely irritating. Red explained that he left her and her mother in order to keep them safe because he was being tracked by multiple criminal organizations and they would have come after his family. I immediately though that the first time that Jennifer said he “abandoned” them, but she still doesn’t get it or believe him even after he explained it. I’m not saying he couldn’t have handled it better, but once they went into witness protection and he kept his distance to keep them safe, there really was nothing he could do to help.
I just hope they can find Samar before it’s too late, here’s hoping!
