After months of built up hype and of not knowing when our favorite time-travelling hero was going to come back to our screens, after Comic-Con tidbits and promotional imagines, the time has finally come. The BBC has officially announced the Doctor Who return date, and it is much, much closer than you think.
“The Woman Who Fell To Earth”, the show’s first episode featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor at the hands of executive producer Chris Chibnall will premiere Sunday October 7th.

The very aptly titled first episode recalls the last time we saw the Thirteenth Doctor. She was falling from an exploding TARDIS –as it often happens with The Doctor– to an apparent Earth underneath her right after regenerating. We still don’t know what Whittaker’s first episode will even be about, but it seems like Who is renovating all-around, since the show has never premiered on a Sunday before.
We doubt it’ll make a difference. Viewers and fans from around the globe have been eagerly awaiting this day since we first heard Whittaker utter a distinctly Doctor-like “brilliant” right before falling out.
Mark your calendars and get ready. It looks like we’ll be in for a brilliant ride.
Doctor Who premieres globally Sunday October 7th on BBC and BBC America.
