‘The Flash’ SDCC Interview: Carlos Valdes & Tom Cavanagh Deliver ‘Solid-Gold Entertainment’

One of my favorite relationships on The Flash is whatever dynamic that Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are bringing to life. They have such an organic and compelling chemistry that just draws you in. Whether that’s on The Flash or in person during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con.

While Valdes and Cavanagh remained tight-lipped on The Flash season 5, they did deliver on their promise of “solid-gold entertainment,” as evidenced in our interview below.

“We’ve got a lot of stuff to solve this year,” Cavanagh said, “ and we feel like a lot of these storylines are merging and dove-tailing and we might need somebody that can help (Cisco) solve them. So we’re creating this Sherlock Wells, Sherlock Holmes type of character. We’re not quite so sure this character can be trusted.”

Is Cavanagh being serious about this Sherlock Wells character?

“One hundred percent being serious,” he said.

Well, that will be interesting to see play out on screen.

Watch our interview with Valdes and Cavanagh below, where they put that vibrant chemistry on display for all to see:

The Flash season 5 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c on The CW.
