By

Two movies that we can’t wait for are coming to BookCon. It was announced previously that Alexandra Bracken and Amandla Stenberg would be talking about The Darkest Minds.
Fox has now announced that The Hate U Give will be making an appearance at the con as well.

Amandla Stenberg, author Angie Thomas, and director George Tillman Jr. will discuss the upcoming film adaptation of the bestselling book before its theatrical release in October before premiering the first look at footage from the film.

We’re so excited that our fangirl hearts are exploding.

The event will take place on Sunday, at the main stage. The event will be at 3:45pm.

Fox’s The Hate U Give is based on the bestselling novel by Angie Thomas of the same title. Thomas’ searing debut about an ordinary girl in extraordinary circumstances addresses issues of racism and police violence with intelligence, heart, and unflinching honesty. Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighborhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. The Hate U Give is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, with Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, Common, Anthony Mackie and Issa Rae.
