Even when you’re dead — or kind-of-sort-of replaced by a new actor in a storyline involving body switching — you’re never really gone on The Originals.
Such is the case for Nathaniel Buzolic, who plays the original Original vampire Kol Mikaelson. While Kol is currently dead — both Buzolic and Daniel Sharman’s Kols — having centuries of life under your belt is the perfect opportunity to open the door for flashback scenarios.
Buzolic spoke to TVLine about his upcoming role in the new season, teasing that we’re going to be seeing more of him through flashbacks.
“From what I understand, this is going to be a flashback-heavy season, which is cool, because it means there’s more opportunity for Kol to come back and you can see more of him,” he said.
Buzolic said that even when signing onto his new show Significant Mother that he made it clear that he’d want to be available for The Originals should the opportunity arise again.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Julie Plec for giving me that opportunity; being a part of that show has been a life-changing experience for me,” he said. “I’ll always have a soft spot for that character.”
The Originals season 3 premieres Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9/8c on The CW.
