The CW took over the TCAs on Sunday and dropped some pretty big teases and news about its network shows. Among the shows that had panels was the network’s freshman hit The Flash.
In a joint panel with fellow DC Comics adaptation Arrow, the stars of and producers of The Flash teased what’s to come this season, including the reveal of Reverse Flash, the promise of Flash-Arrow crossover events every year and the official renewal for the show’s second season.
Here are the story lines coming out of TCA 2015:
-The CW renewed its eight fall shows: Arrow, The Flash, Jane the Virgin, The 100, Reign, Supernatural, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries.
-The Flash-Arrow crossover event will be an annual thing ideal for November Sweeps
Viewers may get more insight in the 17th episode, which will feature a look back at the night of Barry’s mother was killed. “We’re going to see what happened that night from the Reverse Flash’s point of view,” Kreisberg says. “I didn’t say it was from Wells’ point of view, I said it was from the Reverse Flash’s point of view.”
Many people suspected that Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) was the man in the yellow suit, given his name’s similarity to the Reverse Flash’s alter-ego in the comics. “His name is not an accident,” Kreisberg said. “Eddie’s connection to the Reverse Flash lore is going to pay off big time in the back half of the year.”
Then he intriguingly added that he’s in “preliminary discussions” to expand the network’s Arrow/Flash/DC universe with yet another show, but he refused to say which character: “You’d have to be judicious. Could there be another hour in that universe? Possibly. That’s why we’re in preliminary discussion. [The show] has to stand on its own legs.”
