#TheFlash Trailer Breakdown: Catch Him If You Can

“Who I am is the guy who’s not fast enough to stop Wells.”

In the promo for Tuesday’s all-new episode of The Flash, “Rogue Air,” the impending showdown between The Flash and Reverse Flash draws to a close as the two battle it out in this penultimate episode of the hit show’s freshman season.

The new promo also teases the guest appearances of Oliver Queen/Arrow and Firestorm, who show up just in time to help Barry/Flash take on Wells/Reverse Flash.

Basically, everything is about to hit the freaking fan.

Let’s break it down, shall we:

Here are three things from the trailer that have us buzzing:

1. Will Barry ever get a step ahead of Wells/Reverse Flash?

Poor Barry. He can’t ever catch a break when it comes to Wells/Reverse Flash. Every time Barry presumably makes progress it turns out Wells is always several steps in front of him – or “a thousand” as Barry despairs in the promo. How is Barry to outduel Reverse Flash when he can’t outthink him? But persistence can only prove to be Barry’s strength just as cockiness will prove to be Reverse Flash’s downfall.

2. The Flash gets some help from his super friends, Arrow and Firestorm.

Since Barry himself can’t seem to best Reverse Flash, he’s going to receive some much-needed help from some old friends. That’s right; the highly-anticipated, epic superhero team-up between Flash, Arrow and Firestorm is a coming. And it makes sense. Since Barry can’t best Reverse Flash with his superspeed – seeing as he too has that power – the Arrow and Firestorm will be able to use their strengths – supreme archery/combat and fire – to their advantage. Will it be enough to best Reverse Flash? Seeing as we still have one more episode after this one I don’t so; at least not entirely. But I think it’ll be the thing that gives Barry an edge heading into the finale.

3. The Flash vs. Reverse Flash (now that we know the truth).

While Barry will have some super help from his super friends when it comes to besting Reverse Flash, the showdown we’re all anticipating is the rematch between Flash and Reverse Flash. The last time these two fought, Reverse Flash handedly defeated Flash in the midseason finale. Everything since then has been building up to this moment. And Barry won’t let the same thing happen twice.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
