Today in Marvel: Chad Michael Murray Returns to ‘Agent Carter’, ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Gambit’ Might Crossover With X-Men

Today in Marvel, we have a fan favorite returning in Agent Carter, an official announcement of Hollywood heavyweight, Alfre Woodard joining Netflix’s Luke Cage and the door opens for a crossover between the X-Men, Gambit and Deadpool.

1. Chad Michael Murray is back on Agent Carter

He might not have played one of our favorite characters, but there was a special panache with which Chad Michael Murray brought Jack Thompson, the arrogant co-worker of Peggy’s, to life that made us feel some degree of sympathy for him. There was no confirmation that Murray will be returning for the second season as the finale saw him becoming the head of the S.S.R in New York and the series will be based in Los Angeles in this season,  until he posted the image on his Instagram of him back in his 1940’s garb.

2. Alfre Woodard’s Luke Cage character revealed

We previously reported that Alfre Woodard was offered a role in Marvel’s Luke Cage but Marvel has just confirmed that Woodard will play Mariah Dillard, a politician and a cousin of Cottonmouth (who will be played by Mahershala Ali).

According to her character description, she is “looking to bring a new era of change to the streets she grew up on. Her personal life and professional career are thrown into turmoil by both Harlem's newest hero Luke Cage as well as her cousin Cottonmouth's nefarious acts.”

About her casting, Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, said, “Alfre has an incredible, unique, and intimidating presence on screen that makes her perfect as a leader of the Harlem community.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will stream on Netflix in 2016.

3. Deadpool and Gambit could crossover with X-Men

The X-Men will be dominating 2016 with three films - X-Men: Apocalypse, Gambit and Deadpool. But producer Simon Kinberg told MTV News that the characters from the three films might interact.

Kinberg has revealed that both Gambit and Deadpool exist in a post-Days of Future Past universe and that “there will be interplay between different characters in different movies.”

But yeah, we have a clear sense of the directions we want to take them in and in my my mind at least, how we could start to cross-pollinate sort of with those characters that have their standalone movies.”

So hopefully we can look forward to some more interaction between our various mutant characters in the future.
