Turning the Pages: K.A. Tucker’s ‘Until It Fades’

One thing that you can always guarantee when it comes to a K.A. Tucker book – you are going to get hit right in the feels. Her books are filled with angst, suspense, or sometimes both. But they will make you feel something.

Until it Fades delivers on the angsty feels, but not in a typical K.A. way.

She makes you work for this romance, and that was something exciting. It was something that I loved.

ABOUT UNTIL IT FADES:

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania (population three thousand outside of tourist season).

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed date, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has rescued: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works. For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Will I tell you that this book is perfect? No. It’s not. But that’s not always a bad thing. A little predictable at times, Until it Fades, is full of tropes. But those tropes, the predictability of it works.

But what doesn’t work for me at times is the slow burn. Cause if you thought all the years that it took to long for your favorite ships to come together, you have no idea. This book was took the slow burn to a whole new level. I was a little like – lets get to this romance. I need it.

That being said, the book was an easy read and it was fun. Sure, it took it’s time in a few places, but overall, Until it Fades, will make you feel. It will touch your heart. It’s a departure from K.A. Tucker’s previous works, but that’s not a bad thing.

It’s a great summer read and one that I would suggest. Because who doesn’t love the possibility of love? Who doesn’t like to feel hope?

I know I do.

I work a lot. Fangirlish is my baby. I work in social media professionally and I love it – which is probably why I don’t keep up on my own. I don’t sleep enough and I obsess too much over my favorite things. I need to work on combing my hair more. Or at elast I need to stop dying it different colors.
