Turning The Pages: Read Our Review of James Patterson’s ‘Expelled’ & Win A Copy

They say that high school are the good years. The years that you will never forget, the years that will change everything for you. Well, Lord above, I wouldn’t want to go back to high school and Expelled cemented that for me. JIMMY Patterson sent me a copy to check out, and is partnering with me for a giveaway!

Now I will be the first to admit, I normally pass over James Patterson books – but I was intrigued. So, I picked it up out of my to be read pile and started to read.

A secret Twitter account
An anonymous photo
Everyone is a suspect

Will Foster’s Twitter account used to be anonymous–until someone posted The Photo that got him and three other students expelled, their futures ruined forever. But who took the picture, and why are they being targeted?

To uncover the truth, Will gets close to the suspects: the hacker, the quarterback, the bad girl, the class clown, the vice principal, and…his own best friend. What secrets are they hiding, and even worse–what do they know about each other? The terrible truth will haunt them forever.

New York Times bestselling author James Patterson brings us another fast-moving tale of suspense, with danger, romance, and twists and turns that will keep you guessing to the very last page.

Lets be honest – the internet is a vicious place. Technology is vicious. There is nothing that can’t be photographed or recorded.

When a crude photo is posted on social and Theo must prove his innocence. The school has zero tolerance for this. So Theo and the students in the photo are expelled. Here’s the thing that a lot of people may not get… what you say and do can have lasting effect on other peoples lives.

It’s up to Theo to prove his innocence.

Here’s the thing about Patterson and Raymond’s novel. It’s not what I expected. Not even close to what I expected. I think with Patterson’s novels, I expect the same formulaic stories that never really change. What I got from this novel was more of a contemporary John Green feel with a slice of someone I hadn’t read before.

But what I learned from this novel is something that I didn’t expect. It was the craziness of what kids go through now a days and how the world that they grow up in is different than ours and everyday it’s changing. Whereas back in the day you would spread a rumor about someone if you didn’t like them, nowadays, kids can ruin someones entire life. Technology travels with you and sure, you can deny. But people may not always believe that someone hacked you, or that wasn’t your account.

Expelled is so many things, a mystery, a contemporary story, a coming of age and breaking but for now it can stand the test of time. Expelled is a good book, but what I wanted more of was the documentary that is in the book. I actually wanted to see it come to life. I wanted to see it, to be honest.

If anything, Expelled, teaches us all to come together, to listen despite differences and struggles. It’s a good quick read. One that I think that most people would enjoy.

Head Bitch In Charge

I work a lot. Fangirlish is my baby. I work in social media professionally and I love it – which is probably why I don’t keep up on my own. I don’t sleep enough and I obsess too much over my favorite things. I need to work on combing my hair more. Or at elast I need to stop dying it different colors.
