We love a fun, good book. Sometimes we need an escape from life and that’s what books give us. Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini was just that. A book that allowed us to escape from life for a hot minute and be entertained.
If you haven’t heard of the book that hits shelves tomorrow, here’s what it’s about –
Young PR star Rose Reed is thrown into the big leagues when her boss leaves town the day of the firm’s meeting with Archie Fox, a young, hot, internationally famous British singer-songwriter. The meeting is going badly until Rose suggests a staged romance with up-and-coming, young indie star Raya. He’ll do it, but only if Rose becomes his publicist.
As the faux-mance begins to rehabilitate Archie’s faltering career, Rose finds his herself having unexpected, inconvenient and definitely unprofessional feelings for the crooner. But do late night texts and impromptu burrito binges mean he feels the same? In the end, Rose will have to decide whether to let her fantasy crush go, or to risk her reputation to be with the charming, handsome, scoundrel-y but sweet pop star she’s grown to love.
Here’s the 4 things we loved the most about it.
THE PACE
What keeps a person reading is the pace of the story. For me, that’s what gets me reading, it’s what draws me in, and it’s what makes me decide if I am going to continue to read the story or not. The thing about Public Relations is that it did just that – it drew me in from the first page and before I knew it, it was done. The words just flowed into the next and I wanted to know what happened. I wanted to see how far that they would take it and what I would learn about the characters.
But what amazed me the most was that I never lost interest. The authors gave you a little and then kept letting it all out little by little. The words were like a piece of good cake, you eat a bite and you can’t stop.
THE STORY LINE
I think because I have seen so much in Hollywood and know so many stories, that I can actually see this story line playing out in real life. Hollywood is a crazy place and so many things happen, but we all only see a part of it. There is so much spin in Hollywood and it’s crazy how much that we don’t really see. But the behind the scenes stuff is really the best part of Hollywood. It’s the part that really holds all the drama, the intrigue, and the really good stuff.
Heaney and Rebolini know that. They know that there is so much more to this Hollywood game and I love seeing that part of it brought into the light.
IT MADE THE CELEBRITY HUMAN AND RELATABLE
The thing about celebrities is that we put them on a pedestal. I mean, I admit that I do too. But it’s fun to see them written as what they are – HUMAN BEINGS.
Archie was relatable. He was a man out there just trying to do what he loves. He is trying to be as normal as society will allow. A lot of times we don’t get to see them as just regular humans. Guys – I loved Archie. I loved him as him the person and him the performer.
THE FUN STORYLINE
I loved this book. I appreciate that it was different, fun, and entertaining. I appreciated the fact that it showed a different side of Hollywood. I appreciated everything wasn’t always wrapped up in a pretty bow. I appreciated that when it need to be it was. I appreciated that it felt new with every single page.
You should read it. It’s definitely a good summer read.
