TV Shows We’re Looking Forward To In 2019

It’s not easy for us to admit, but we will – the fall television slate left us a little disappointed. Sure there were some great shows, some great moments and somethings that we couldn’t get enough of. But if we’re being honest, we’ve been looking forward to the midseason premieres.

Sometimes, personally, I wonder if networks look at all of the things that they know that people will love and say, fuck it, let them suffer.

But now it’s the end of the year and we’re closer to the things that we have been waiting for. What shows are you looking forward to? Here’s our list of the ones that we can’t wait for.

Premiere Date: January 15, 2019
What It’s About: A reimagning of Roswell, which centers on the residents of New Mexico, where aliens live undercover among humans.
Cast: Jeanine Mason, Tyler Blackburn, Nathan Parsons, Michael Trevino, Michael Vlamis, Riley Voekel, Lily Cowles
Why We Can’t Wait: We admit that we have admired Carina MacKenzie for years and it doesn’t hurt that she is the show runner for the new Roswell. But if we put that aside the truth is we loved the first incarnation for the series. But what makes this show something we can’t wait for is (1) it’s not like the first one so we are intrigued (2) It’s led by a fierce woman who inspires us on the daily (3) the cast is amazing, and (4) Michael Vlamis. Now – we totally admit that we haven’t seen Vlamis in anything else, but watching his Instagram stories, we know he has our heart.

Whiskey Cavalier
Premiere Date: February 27, 2019
What It’s About: A pair of CIA agents embark on missions to save the world, but have to put up with each other first.
Cast:Lauren Cohan, Scott Foley
Why We Can’t Wait: Scott Foley. Look, there is no shame in admitting that we’ve loved him since the Felicity days and there are no regrets over it either. But beyond Scott, procedural dramas are always fun and we’ve been taken in by FBI this season. So we are looking forward to seeing a TV show about the CIA. Drama. Intrigue. Scott Foley. CAN NOT WAIT.

Premiere Date: January 10, 2019
What It’s About: Fed up with her father, a woman moves in with her older half-sister, and her fiancé.
Cast: Nina Dobrev, Odessa Adlon, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Brian Stokes Mitchell
Why We Can’t Wait: We are coming to this show for Nina Dobrev, but staying for the comedy. We have to admit that we’re enjoying 30 minute TV shows a lot more and looking forward to things that make us laugh. In a world where everything seems wrong, overwhelming, and sad – we’re looking forward to something that will make us laugh. We like laughter. And we love Nina Dobrev.

Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club
Premiere Date: January 8, 2019
What It’s About: Follows Lindsay Lohan as she works to expand her business empire with the launch of Lohan Beach House on the Greek island of Mykonos.
Cast: Lindsay Lohan
Why We Can’t Wait: Lindsay Lohan. Greece. Drama. Need we say more?

Good Trouble
Premiere Date: January 8, 2019
What It’s About: Callie and Mariana Foster move to Los Angeles and begin their lives as young adults.
Cast: Roger Bart, Cierra Ramirez, Maia Mitchell, Sherry Cola, Tommy Martinez, Zuri Adele
Why We Can’t Wait: Because we loved The Fosters and quite frankly can not wait to watch Callie and Mariana grow up. It’s going to be a great thing to watch them evolve into adulthood. It won’t be easy, but hey – that’s the fun!

Deadly Class
Premiere Date: January 16, 2019
What It’s About: Deadly Class follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a storied high school for assassins. Maintaining his moral code while navigating a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties may prove fatal. Set against the backdrop of late 80s counter culture, Deadly Class is a coming of age story unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Based on the smash hit comic series of the same name by Rick Remender.
Cast: Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Liam James, Luke Tennie, Maria Gabriela de Faria,  Michel Duval
Why We Can’t Wait: We have to admit that we got interested in it for Lana Condor, but we devoured the comics and we’re here for the action, drama, and did we mention the action. High school is a crazy place, but a high school for assassins. Yes please. 80s counter culture. Yes please.

Premiere Date: March 15, 2019
What It’s About: Annie is a full-figured woman who wants to change her life — but not her body; she is trying to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent and a perfectionist boss.
Cast: Aiday Bryant, Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens and John Cameron Mitchell
Why We Can’t Wait: We’re excited because the book was amazing, but also because of the cast. Aidy Bryant is amazing and goals. We’re looking forward to watching a show where the plus size character doesn’t want to change her body – because it seems like that is all we ever see. We want to see her empowered. This seems like it will.

Grand Hotel
Premiere Date: June 17, 2019
What It’s About: This bold, provocative drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza (Demián Bichir) owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi (Roselyn Sánchez), and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.
Cast: Demian Bichir, Roselyn Sanchez, Denyse Tontz, Bryan Craig, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Lincoln Younes, Shalim Ortiz, Anne Winters, Chris Warren, Feliz Ramirez and Justina Adorno
Why We Can’t Wait: Ever watch the TV show HOTEL? It was really good and it got us addicted to drama. There is a lot of drama that goes on in hotels and we’re ready to watch it all unfold. Give us the chaos, the drama, the shit that goes on behind the scenes. We are there.

A Discovery of Witches
Premiere Date: January 17, 2019
What It’s About: The magical world created by author Deborah Harkness comes to life on Sundance Now. While studying at Oxford, Diana Bishop, an untrained witch and historian, discovers the tome desired by all three magical species: witches, vampires, and daemons. She knows she must solve its mysteries and is offered help to do so from a vampire named Matthew Clairmont. Diana must decide if a witch can truly trust a vampire.
Cast: Matthew Goode, Alex Kingston, Teresa Palmer
Why We Can’t Wait: Loved the books, but we also love Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode. We’ve been fans of theirs forever, so having them in the same project – yes please.

The Passage
Premiere Date: January 14th, 2019
What It’s About: When a young girl, AMY BELLAFONTE, is chosen to be a test subject, Federal Agent BRAD WOLGAST is the man who is tasked with bringing her to Project NOAH. Ultimately, however, Wolgast becomes her surrogate father, trying to protect her at any cost.
Cast: Saniyya Sidney, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Caroline Chikezie, Vincent Piazza, Jamie McShane, Brianne Howey, McKinley Belcher III
Why We Can’t Wait: Mark-Paul Gosselaar. I mean if we’re being honest.

What new TV shows are you looking forward to in 2019?

I work a lot. Fangirlish is my baby. I work in social media professionally and I love it - which is probably why I don't keep up on my own. I don't sleep enough and I obsess too much over my favorite things. I need to work on combing my hair more. Or at elast I need to stop dying it different colors.
