Wattpad Writer Wednesday with @amandaJtommo

Its that time of the week again, where Fangirlish brings you another awesome Wattpad writer to become obsessed with! This week it is @amandaJtommo

When did you start on Wattpad?

I started writing on Wattpad in June or July of 2012, but I had an account already. Best decision of my life!
What made you decide to start posting your work on Wattpad?
I was no stranger to posting books online. I had been posting on a different website under a different name previously, but the site had been losing readers, so I felt the need to seek a new place to write. When I saw that Wattpad was strictly for books, I knew that was it. I was home. I haven’t turned my back since.
What made Wattpad the best outlet for your writing?
I think it’s the best outlet because it’s a site where you get immediate feedback. I love receiving comments about all my works and they tell me what they like and dislike. They really help me make the best work I can!
Why is it that you write?
Writing has always been my escape. I’ve been writing for almost ten years now, so I don’t see any reason for me to not be writing. This has been my whole world and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.

Do you want to be an author?
If you mean published, yes. At the end of the day, everyone on Wattpad is an author. We create worlds with words, so we’re authors. I want to be published, of course. I’m working on fixing up my manuscript for Vigilant to query early next year!
vigilant-2If you could give any advice to a Wattpad writer what would it be?
I think I would tell them to not worry about numbers. Numbers is pointless. I’ve heard so many people say they gave up on Wattpad because no one was reading it. Don’t give up, keep writing. I didn’t get my numbers overnight, so why should anyone else? If you love your book, keep on writing.
What Fandom do you think you would never write about?
Hmmm…. this is a tricky one. Probably Outlander. Diana Gabaldon has expressed that she doesn’t agree with fanfiction because they’re her characters, so I wouldn’t stray into her world. Inspiration? Yes. Fanfiction? No.
What Fandom would you want to write about?
Since I began writing on Wattpad, I’ve been writing about the One Direction fandom and I love it! They are so incredibly supportive and welcoming. It’s a nice place. I don’t think I would write about any other fandom.
Who are your favorite published authors?
I have so many! But the one that sticks out is Diana Gabaldon who wrote the Outlander series. Her books are amazingly well thought out. I wish I had the will-power to write the length of her books. They’re huge! As for the Wattpad community, I have huge respect for Anna Todd! Her books are addicting!
What is the best comment you’ve ever gotten from a reader?
I once got a comment about how this girl would be angry if Vigilant wouldn’t be published by the time she graduated high school. I still think about that comment. I don’t think I have one particular favorite comment. Everyone is so nice on my books and have all said lovely things. I love my little community.
Who are your favorite Wattpad Writers?
My friends, probably! I became friends with them because of their books! But these are my favorites: allyrwilliams, butterflytattoo, mesmereyes, styleslegend, gabycabezut, and famouxx
Tell us about a story you have written that you are proud of and why people should read it?
My book Vigilant is definitely the one I am most proud of. I’ve been working on it for three years and have put more effort into this one book than any other book I’ve ever written. I think people should read it because it is the book I’m most proud of. I’m currently fixing it up and trying to get it published, so it would mean a lot to me!

It’s about a girl named Aurelia Ison who lives in a dystopian future where the world is ruled by one man named The President. He starts this program to train the best of the best to become new guards. They are sent to a facility to learn how to fight and be a guard. Most of the housemates have other ideas.
Do you ever write from experience?
Not really, very seldom I do pull from experience. I think the one that truly does reflect some of my inner feelings is my book Bittersweet. That book is about a plus-size girl and I connect with her just based on that. So Ira is 100% me in that sense.
Have you made friends from being a writer on Wattpad?
Of course! I don’t even have an exact number because of how many friends I’ve made! I have about four or five before last October, but after I joined the Wattpad Stars, I have so many more friends!
What is your most well-known story and why do you think it is popular?
Probably The Prince. I’m not even sure why people still love it as much as they do! It has so many plot holes, but oh well! I think they love it because Harry Styles as a prince is still pretty uncommon on the site!
