Wattpad Writer Wednesday with @Pandean

Its Wednesday, which means its time to introduce you to another awesome Wattpad writer! Woohoo!

This week, meet @Pandean

When did you start writing on Wattpad?

I started on Wattpad less than a year ago to date; October 3rd, 2015, I think. The fact that things have moved so fast and I’ve gotten so many reads in that time astounds me. I’m very glad I went on Wattpad–only wish I did so earlier!

What made you decide start posting your work on Wattpad?

I wanted to see what the public reaction to White Stag would be and to find a way to keep myself motivated as I wrote it. It really worked! I also just love the idea of sharing my work with others and so the fact that there was this platform that let me do it was great!

What made Wattpad the best outlet for your writing?

I like Wattpad because you can reach a lot of people and the teams of people who run it are very dedicated to their writers. I enjoy interacting with readers and being on the forums, the fact I can hold contests and do fan art and all.

Why is it that you write?

I write because it keeps me sane and it’s a good outlet for a lot of things I deal with, as well as I love the idea of creating worlds and sharing them with others. The sharing part has always been a big thing for me.

Do you want to be an author?

I would love to be a published author and hopefully I will be one day! I think being an author was always my goal when I started writing–I always wanted to be able to share what I wrote on whatever scale possible.

If you could give any advice to a Wattpad writer, what would it be?

Don’t give up! Be active, be friendly, reply to your comments, make friends, and read other’s works! Remember to have fun. It’s not a competition. 🙂

What fandom do you think that you would never write about?

Uh…Mhmm…I’m only just diving into fanfiction (and I’m preeeetty sure I suck at it) so I’m not sure. I guess One Direction because I don’t listen to the music so that would be weird.

What fandom do you want to write about?

I would love to write about ASOIAF/Game of Thrones and Bleach. I’m trying but I don’t really have the hang of it yet.

Who are your favorite published authors?

Favorite Authors include (in no particular order): Jim Butcher, Stephenie Meyer, George RR Martin, Richelle Mead, Sarah Ahiers, Samantha Joyce, and Adriana Mather.

What’s the best comment that you ever received from a reader?

See Also

Dear gods there are so many….my favorite comments are the very reactionary comments when people read on the app so they tend to consistent of a lot of caps lock and keyboard smashing and little coherence. They’re something that kinda need to context but I find the whole reactions to certain scenes and what people say to be the best. I like knowing that real-time thing. And all comments that are on Chapter 11 have to be my favorite because that’s when all the shippers freak out. I love shippers.

Who are your favorite Wattpad writers?

Gaah. I’m so awful at remembering writer’s names (hence my very short list of favorite authors–I have a lot of favorite books but I have to literally be looking at my bookcase to remember). I like @ferret-bird, @-Lumi-, @paulapdx, @leoconstillationwriter, basically anyone on my reading lists.

Tell us about a story you’ve written that you’re most proud of and why people should be reading it.

whitestagc2I’m very proud of White Stag, which happens to be my most read work on Wattpad. It was something I started writing while in rehab and it was really therapeutic. I’m proud of it because I think it offers an alternative look on what a monster is and what is considered bad or good. I also really identify with the MC, Janneke, as she’s someone who is strong but also vulnerable, has been through a lot, and learns through the course of the novel (and series that follows) that it’s okay to slip and need help and how she learns about herself and realizes what she’s capable of. She’s a very determined character who literally won’t stop going until her body gives out and I like that about her; she may be scared  about a situation but she keeps going.

Do you ever write from experience?

I do. I mean, not entirely as I write fantasy but I tend to put my own emotional experiences in my writing in subtle ways.

Have you made friends thanks to being an author on Wattpad?

Oh yes! I’m actually 99% sure half of my Facebook friends are Wattpadders.

What’s your most well known story and why do you think it’s the most popular?

White Stag is my most well-known story. I honestly don’t know why it got so popular so quickly but I’m glad it did! I think that it might offer a different or unique viewpoint and I think it’s a good read and well, I guess you’d have to ask the readers why exactly it’s popular since it’s them who made it popular!
