Ryan Eggold of The Blacklist is starring in NBC’s new fall show New Amsterdam, and we are so excited to see him on a weekly basis again. New Amsterdam will premiere on September 25th at 10/9c bringing a new medical drama to our screens prepared to compete with Grey’s Anatomy, The Good Doctor, The Resident, and others.
Here’s why we are stoked for it, and why we have every confidence it’ll be a success.
Ryan Eggold, who we adore
On The Blacklist, Eggolds character (Tom Keen) was loved and we were devastated to see his character killed off. Now, we get a second chance to have him in a new show, though we’d always be fine with him being alive and back with Elizabeth on a cameo basis. On New Amsterdam he’ll play Dr. Max Goodwin, the new medical director (suffering from cancer in secret) at New Amsterdam Hospital. He values patient care above all else and we can’t wait to see him in action.
The Mega Talented Cast
Ryan Eggold is an amazing lead but so are the cast supporting him. Along with Eggold, New Amsterdam’s cast includes: Jocko Sims, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine, just to name some. You’ll recognize Sims from his role as Lt. Burk on The Last Ship, among others. Janet Montgomery played Olivia Maine on This Is Us. Kher was previously on Sense8 as Sanyam Dandekar, and Labine brought Dale to life in Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil. New Amsterdam is loaded with a talented cast ready to, probably, tear at our heartstrings every week this Fall.
New Amsterdam is packed with an emotional storyline
We have a doctor, diagnosed with cancer, starting at a new hospital trying to revolutionize the broken healthcare system. Take a look at the promo to see just how much Dr. Goodwin plans to shake things up in the name of patient care. By just what we see in the clips available so far, this show is going to be a tear jerker.
