Rest in peace, Titans.
TNT will not be moving forward with the small screen adaptation of DC Comics series Titans, network president Kevin Reilly confirmed on Thursday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
“It is not [still in development],” Reilly announced. “We just decided it wasn’t quite where we wanted to go.”
Titans revolves around a group of superheroes-in-training who come from all corners of the DC universe. The action drama is featured around Dick Grayson, who becomes Nightwing, a leader of a new band of superheroes, including Starfire, Raven, etc.
Perhaps TNT didn’t believe that Titans could stand out amid a market ripe with many superhero television shows already in existence, including a new similar team-up show in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which bows Jan. 21 on the CW.
Hopefully this will free up some of the characters set to appear on Titans, like Dick Grayson (Nightwing) and Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) for other DC properties on television, like Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Gotham, and Legends of Tomorrow.
