Well, now this is casting news we didn’t see coming!
The news about Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ have slowed down a bit, and with good reason, we thought. Most of the main characters have already been cast. Most being the operative word here.
Lemony Snicket, the titular author, was the only big name they hadn’t announced an actor for, and at this point, we all figured they would just go ahead without him. After all, the author isn’t necessarily needed – though his internal monologue is one of the highlights of the books. But, fear not, Lemony Snicket fans, Deadline is reporting that Patrick Warburton will start as the narrator in the Netflix drama, and will also, *gasp* actually appear on camera.
We have no idea what this means for the adaptation, which is set to have eight episodes, and will presumably, cover the first book in the series, aptly titled The Bad Beginning, but we’re excited for the possibilities.
The books follow orphaned children Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire as they face misfortunes, bad luck, and a series of unfortunate events as they try to uncover the secrets of their parents’ deaths.
Filming is expected to begin soon in Canada. Netflix hasn’t yet set an air date for the series.
