A fan-favorite character will soon be bidding The Vampire Diaries farewell.
Kat Graham, who plays witch Bonnie Bennett on The CW’s long-running supernatural hit, recently revealed that she will be leaving The Vampire Diaries after season eight.
“Season 8 will be my last season,” Graham told US Weekly. “I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me. If the crew can come with me, then we’ll be good. The crew is going to be the hardest thing to let go, because we are a family.”
Graham has been a staple on the show since its pilot in 2009, and her character’s storyline with former lead Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, who left the show after last season). But we can’t help but wonder if Bonnie’s farewell might open the door for Nina Dobrev’s return?
While it’s unsure how long The Vampire Diaries will run (it was renewed for that eighth season earlier this year), perhaps Graham’s farewell might coincide with the series’ finale. Or perhaps they’ll send Bonnie off on her own — and away from Mystic Falls — and let her live on outside of the show. Guess we’ll have to wait to see, but we do know that Bonnie Bennett’s time on the show is coming to a close.
The Vampire Diaries airs Fridays at 8/7c on The CW.
