Who can’t appreciate Tom Hiddleston? We know that we can! One of our favorite stories in Imagines features Tom Hiddleston and today we have the pleasure of interviewing the author – Kora Huddles.
Wattpad and Gallery Books have teamed with International Bestselling Author Anna Todd for Imagines. Imagines is some of the greatest Fan Fic authors from Wattpad writing a unique anthology of “imagines.” Imagine your favorite day with celebrity. What you imagine isn’t half of what these authors imagine – well at least it isn’t half of what I imagined.

What was it about Wattpad that made you want to start writing on it?
I loved the platform. When I stumbled upon it, I was looking for somewhere to post “His English Heart” and the site was really friendly. It’s very easy to upload and create there.
What’s the biggest lesson that you have learned from writing on Wattpad?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is don’t jump waaaaaay forward in a story without warning your audience. That sounds like common sense, but I really didn’t think about it at the time and so I had dozens of people going, “Whoa, that was a really quick jump.” So always let your readers know if you’re moving ahead to the future faster than you’ve been pacing so far.
How do you write- do you outline the book or do you just write off the cuff?
It really depends on the story I want to tell. A lot of stuff I’ve done has just been off the cuff. I’ll just be somewhere and go, “Oh, that’d be a good one-shot.” or “Hey, I could really flesh this out into a full story.” I’m really trying to structure more and plan things out instead of just flying by the seat of my pants.
What conventionally published authors are your biggest influences?
Meg Cabot (I read Princess Diaries a million times), Ridley Pearson (Kingdom Keepers), Timothy Zahn (The Thrawn Trilogy), and I’m going to also say Nora Ephron for her “You’ve Got Mail” screenplay.
What is the biggest misconception about authors on Wattpad? What do you want people to know?
In my genre, specifically, I think the biggest misconception about fan fiction authors is that we’re all obsessive. Which is totally not true at all. Just because we have ideas that branch off of someone else’s creation doesn’t mean that we’re weird. I think it’s pretty stinking awesome that there are people who want to expand on things they love.
What was it like- finding out that you were getting published?
I almost thought it wasn’t real. I got the e-mail saying that they’d love for me to participate in the book and I kind of flipped out. The initial thought of being published scared me to death, but then I realized how wonderful a privilege it was to be chosen and I couldn’t be more thankful. Now I’m just extremely excited for the book to hit the shelves!
Tell us about Imagines. What can we expect?
You can expect amazing stories that you are in! When I started my story on Wattpad, there were very few “reader insert” stories available and I love that format. It’s so cool to be able to place yourself in this extraordinary anthology with all of these celebrities.
What made you want to be part of the Imagines book?
I loved the idea of placing the reader in the story. As I said before, I just LOVE that format. Second person point of view is sometimes a difficult thing to master, and now there’s going to be a whole book full of nothing but that? I’m excited to be part of something that’s never been done before.
What’s the hardest thing about writing fan fiction? Do you feel a pressure to live up to the expectations of the fandom?
Oh goodness. I’d have to say the hardest thing to figure out initially is how to stay in character. When I’m writing fan fiction, I always try to stick as close as I can to the personalities and quirks that have been shown to us on the screen or between the pages of the book they came from. As long as I can write them for who they actually are- how they would actually speak and think and act, then I’m not so worried about what kind of story line I throw them in. I do feel a pressure to live up to expectations of others, but it all really stems from this one point of getting the characters as authentic as possible.
Tell us what you can about your story in Imagines. What is the one piece of advice that you would give your fellow Wattpad writers?
My story is about Tom Hiddleston, and it’s all about your friendship with him throughout the filming of The Avengers and the aftermath of you realizing you’ve got a crush on him. My advice to Wattpad writers is to just GO FOR IT. When I started on the site, I didn’t expect my biggest story to get more than 40,000 reads total throughout the entirety of my life. Now I’m getting published!! So just go for it, write until you can’t write anymore.
Give us one author on Wattpad that everyone should be reading.
Katie Guinn. She is one of the nicest people I have ever had the privilege to meet.
