Cameron Monaghan, Maddie Hasson Cast in 'Anna Dressed In Blood'

The Wrap

Another one of our favorite YA book series is getting the movie treatment.
Cameron Monaghan (Gotham, Vampire Academy) and Maddie Hasson (Twisted) have been cast in Stephenie Meyer’s Anna Dressed In Blood, which is the first of a two-book series hailing from author Kendare Blake.
Monaghan will play Cas Lowood, our protagonist who has inherited a job that involves killing the dead as his dad did before. That is before his dad was gruesomely murdered by one of those spirits. Hasson will play the titular Anna, who is one of those dead spirits that Cas seeks out to kill. Only she’s unlike any of the previous spirits he’s come into contact with. She’s cursed and has a deadly rage that has caused her to kill everyone that has ever set foot into the Victorian residence she calls home. But for some reason Anna spares Cas’ life. The two eventually realize that perhaps they’re key to unlocking both of their secret pasts.

“Finding the right actors has been top priority,” said director Trish Sie. “It’s critical we achieve just the right tone and identify the magical combination of people that brings crackling electricity to these characters and their story.”
“We literally searched the world for over a year to find the perfect actors to bring this genre- spanning story to life. Cameron and Maddie, both so talented individually, together have that rare and extraordinary chemistry that lights up the screen,” said Meyer. “Trish Sie has the perfect background to visually translate Kendare Blake’s compelling story in a way that speaks to the modern viewer.”
Meyer optioned Anna Dressed In Blood under her production company Fickle Fish Films, and she will serve as producer on the project. As noted, Trish Sie will serve as director on the film with a script from Allison Wood.
“We are so excited with Anna Dressed In Blood,” fellow producer Myles Nestel said. “It’s incredible combination of suspense, terror, comedy and romance gives it a real edge above standard YA fare. That coupled with an intense chemistry from our leads is driving the enthusiasm we are already seeing from buyers for the film.”
