While Superman had a slight presence in Supergirl‘s first season, the audience never saw the Man of Steel’s face. But that’s about to change.
Superman will be unmasked in Supergirl‘s second season allowing for fans to finally fet a glimpse of Clark Kent’s face. Casting is currently underway for the iconic role, according to TVLine.
Per the description from Warner Bros., “The iconic character of Superman will first be seen visiting his cousin Kara in National City at the beginning of the series’ second season.”
“[Exec producers] Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”
Of course initial thoughts turn to Tom Welling donning the red cape. Welling played a young Clark Kent on Smallville for 10 seasons, but the actor shut that down. “There are people who would like it, there are people who [wouldn’t] like it,” Welling told BuzzFeed in January. “But I will tell you that no one has ever actually asked me to do it. So I don’t know. It would be kind of odd. I don’t know who he is at that point. He would obviously be Superman.”
What are your thoughts on Superman making his grand debut in Supergirl‘s sophomore season?
