Fangirlish Does Comic-Con Day 2: Nerd HQ, The 100, Powerless and more!

San Diego Comic Con kicked off officially yesterday, and Friday was busy, busy as always. There was a lot of walking around (maybe some running, as well), a lot of stars, great panels and some amazing interviews. And for those of you who weren’t there ….well, we have a recap!

That’s right, this is what we really loved from the second day of San Diego Comic Con. With visual proof. Because we’re good like that.

Nerd HQ

Every year at San Diego Comic-Con, Zachary Levi does Nerd HQ, an event held the same weekend as the convention that offers exclusive gaming and tech activations, nightly events, and intimate celebrity panels benefiting Operation Smile. And this year, we got to be there for two of today’s “Conversations for a Cause,” Stephen Amell + Friends (aka, Emily Bett Rickards, Cody Rhodes, Arthur Darvill AND John Barrowman) and the cast of Teen Wolf.

It was great to see some of our favorites in such an intimate setting, and it was especially great to see John Barrowman walk in wearing awesome pink pumps, with some leopard print ones for Stephen Amell to wear.

The panel is live here, but in case you were wondering, he DID.

Powerless was one of the hits of Preview night on Wednesday, and honestly, the most anticipated comedy in our schedule. So, it was great to talk to the cast and pick their brains about what makes this show so special. And though they had a lot to say about embracing the ordinary side of life in a superhero world, we happen to think they’re all pretty special.

The 100

The 100 had a rough season, with some of our favorites leaving us for good and things not looking bad for those left behind. And yet, talking to the cast today, we got the sense that this show still has a lot to give, and these people are really invested in the journey each and one of their characters must go through to become … well, whatever it is they want to be.

Offsite fun

Anyone who’s ever been to San Diego Comic Con knows half the fun of doing the convention is the off-site fun that happens outside the San Diego Convention Center. And  Friday was no exception, as we got to go into the Abigail, swing by Petco Park for Camp Conival and even take a picture dressed as superheroes at the Hilton Bayfront. It can’t get any better than that!

Agents of Shield

Finally, we ended the night with the Agents of Shield press room, and boy, are we excited about what’s coming. And about how awesome the cast was. And, okay, about the people. Seeing your favorite actors is great, getting to talk with them about the things that make both of you passionate? That’s the dream right there. And we’re very happy to be living it.

Join us tomorrow for more San Diego Comic-Con! And don’t forget to follow our adventures at Comic-Con throughout the week!
