Ben Whishaw In Talks To Play Michael Banks in Mary Poppins Sequel

We’d be lying if we said that we weren’t on board for the next Mary Poppins movie.  Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Disney’s sequel to Mary Poppins have sold us on the sequel.

And then now – we’re even more excited because Ben Whishaw is in talks to play the grown up Michael Banks. The movie would be set 25 years after the events of 1964’s original Mary Poppins.

We started falling for Ben after we heard him voice Paddington, but we were full fledged fans after seeing him in The Lobster and the last James Bond movie. Look – we’re fangirls first and yes, we fall for a pretty face, but we do love good acting too.

Emily Blunt is set to star as Mary Poppins, with Lin-Maniel Miranda as a street lamp lighter named Jack.

The movie is set in “Depression-era London and follow a now-grown Jane and Michael Banks, who are visited by the enigmatic Mary Poppins following a personal loss.”

This casting just keeps getting better and better.

The sequel to Mary Poppins hits theaters on Dec. 25, 2018. We know we’ll be there! Will you?
