As the writers of the Blacklist love to do, they left us last season with a tantalizing cliff hanger. Tonight, it’s finally time to continue the story in the season 4 premiere “Esteban”. Is the man who kidnapped Liz really her father? How will the rest of the team back at FBI headquarters handle the news that Liz actually faked her death after seemingly dying from complications in child birth? And how far will Red go to bring Liz home and save her new baby Agnes? Hopefully, all of these questions will be answered in “Esteban” tonight. Before we get too far into speculation about the new episode lets take a look at a recap of everything that happened last season.
The question that’s probably on everyone’s lips is: what happened to baby Agnes? In the last few minutes of last season’s finale we saw Tom desperately fighting with a man by Agnes’s crib trying to keep him away from her. The secret location of the house that he and Liz had been set up in by Kaplan had been discovered, and they were under attack. In the next scene, Red finally gets to the house and finds Liz, Tom, and the baby have all disappeared. From the final scene of the finale, we know that Liz is being held by a man claiming to be her father, and that Red has gone after her. Long time viewers of the Blacklist know that anyone who threatens Liz gets the full wrath of Raymond Reddington rained down upon them, and no one in their right mind would want to be on the receiving end of that.
Here’s a sneak peek of how the rest of the team back at headquarters is dealing with the news that Liz faked her death.
Looks like they’re taking it pretty well, all things considered.
As I’m sure many of you are too, I’m hoping for a tearful team reunion with lots of hugs and heartfelt monologues, but as we all know, the writers love to make us wait, so I won’t hold my breath.
Here is the episode synopsis to tell us what to expect from the season premiere ahead.
Liz is abducted by a man claiming to be her father, prompting Red’s desperate efforts to find her.
The Blacklist returns tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
