The casting for Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is in full swing and we’re kind of excited about it. It’s a different world with YA adaptations – the hoopla seems to be gone and replaced with the want to make amazing movies and do justice.
Well at least with some of them. We commend that because all we want are good movies or television shows.
And we have the feeling that Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda has the potential to be amazing.
If you aren’t familiar with the books, it is a “coming-out story, playing a high school junior named Simon whose sexual-orientation secret falls into the hands of the class clown. Simon finds himself in a complicated situation when he’s blackmailed into helping Martin get to know his best friend Abby, the new girl in school.”
So who has been cast?
Alexandra Shipp is in talks to play a lead role in the film. But Jorge Lendeborg Jr. has been cast. Who he is playing is being kept under wraps. We’re intrigued, but at the same point we love a little mystery.
He joins Nick Robinson, Logan Miller, and Katherine Langford in the adaptation.
Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who co-exec produce This Is Us, wrote the script for the adaptation. Now if you are a fan of This Is Us, you know that has to be some great writing.
Greg Berlanti is directing the film. It will be produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill.
No release date has been set.
