Rahul Kohli, who plays the beloved medical examiner Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on iZombie, is making his way to another CW show according to EW. He will be guest staring in Episode 18 of Supergirl, titled “Ace Reporter,” as Jack Spheer. Kohli follows the casting of Teri Hatcher and Kevin Sorbo on the show.
Spheer is described as a “charismatic tech genius” who has been working on eradicating major illnesses. He’s driven to create new medical innovations and try to right the unfair circumstances that those who are ill, face every day. Unfortunately, according to the comics, one of Spheer’s own inventions leads him to be mutated and transformed into the villain Biomax, who has the power to control minds.
Kohli’s character will be arriving in National City to show off his new technology to the people and members of the press. It’s no surprise that Kara will be there, showing how far she’s come with her journalism skills. What is surprising is that Kohli’s character will also be Lena Luthor’s ex! Any flame of Lena’s has to be a formidable person and we can’t wait to see what drew such a smart, fiery, and astute woman to him.
EP Andrew Kreisberg also noted that this would be an important episode for Kara and journalism. With the reign of hate that journalists have been getting lately from our own government, it’s nice to see executives voicing how important journalism really is and how “important it is to have the objective truth be out there now.”
We’re looking forward to seeing a show that has challenged gender norms, power dynamics, and the revelation of an LGBT character, take on such an significant topic as the importance of journalism.
iZombie returns April 4th on The CW.
