Practically perfect in every way! Today Entertainment Weekly and Disney unveiled exclusive first looks at the highly anticipated film Mary Poppins Returns. Starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the magical sequel will take place 25 years after Julie Andrews flew down to the Banks children in the original film.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Mary Poppins Returns, directed by Rob Marshall, is set in London in the mid-1930s. Banker and artists Michael banks (Ben Whishaw) now shares the Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane home with his wife and three children. However, after the sudden death of Michael’s wife, The Banks family tries desperately to pick up the pieces. Even Aunt Jane (Emily Mortimer), a union organizer, and Ellen (Julie Walters), a long time housemaid, can’t piece the family back together.
In flies the peculiar and magical Mary Poppins (Blunt), who leads Michael’s children on unbelievable adventures. They even visit the upside-down cousin played by Meryl Streep.
