We can’t really get enough Game of Thrones information – even when there are actual Game of Thrones episodes to obsess about, so of course, we won’t say no to more visual teases from the upcoming season.
Entertainment Weekly has released photos from the seventh season of the show, and most of our favorites are present. From Sansa and Jon, to Tyrion and Daenerys, to Jaime (and yes, Cersei, though she can’t really be counted on as a favorite), the whole gang is back. Or not the whole gang, but enough people to get us excited – including someone you might have forgotten.
Yes, that is Richard Dormer, known to fans of the show as Beric Dondarrion.
If you don’t remember Beric – who could blame you, really, he hasn’t gotten that much screen time – he was the guy Ned Stark entrusted with keeping peace in the Riverlands, and the leader of the Brotherhood Without Banners. You know, the guy who’s died six times and been resurrected by Thoros of Myr each and every time? The one we used as proof that Jon Snow could come back last year when people were doubting his return? That one.
We last saw him in the eight episode of last season, when Sandor “The Hound” Clegane meets up with the Brotherhood Without Banners. So, does this glimpse of Beric means they made it to the North? That’d be good news for Jon Snow – Dondarrion is a Stark ally, and also, probably the only person Jon can have a heart-to-heart about what it feels to be resurrected with.
Interesting to say the least. But then again, that’s Game of Thrones for you. And we really don’t have long to wait. Not anymore.
Thank the Seven, the Lord of Light, the Many-Faced God and whatever other deity might be out there.
Game of Thrones Season 6 premieres July 16th on HBO.
