Gemma Chan Joins The Cast of ‘Mary Queen of Scots’

You know we can’t resist a good story about royals. Maybe that is why we swoon over the upcoming movie, ‘Mary, Queen of Scots.’

Hey we love Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan so that had us salivating when the movie was announced. Then seeing the first picture of Saoirse Ronan in costume? Yes, we were sold.

There has been an addition to the cast. British actress Gemma Chan has joined the film. She will be playing,  Bess of Hardwick, the friend and confidante of Elizabeth I (who is played by Margot Robbie). Bess of Hardwick, along with her husband, would eventually become the keepers (I mean that’s a nice way of putting it) of Mary, Queen of Scots, for 15 years.

If you aren’t familiar with how Mary became a captive, the basics – she married the wrong man after some shady shit happened, was forced to give up the throne, ran to England for the safety of her cousin. Which hey, seeing family is all good and well, unless you previously claimed to have the right to your cousins throne and she’s threatened by it, so she has you killed. But that’s a real quick way to tell a very complex story.

But that’s why we’re excited for the movie  and seeing it all come to life on screen.
