We May Not Cover It, But ‘The Mick’ Is Really Damn Funny

You ever been really drunk, sick, or tired and unable to sleep, so you start binge watching really bad TV (or what you think is really bad TV) and you come across something that is so good, unique and funny that you want to kick yourself in the ass because you didn’t make time for it prior?

That’s the way I feel about The Mick. Shit is FUNNY.  Now will it be something that we cover? Probably not. But who knows. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be watching it.

We love comedy, but then again, who doesn’t? The show is hilarious and we have to hand it off to the writers for that. The lines are sassy, well thought out, and relevant. They aren’t forced.

In todays world of way too many TV shows and just trying to fill space – The Mick isn’t bad. It’s not a shitty idea. It’s no Son of Zorn, thank the lord. This is actually a good idea.

If you aren’t familiar with The Mick here’s what it’s about, “The Mick is a comedy about an unapologetic degenerate (Kaitlin Olson) who suddenly finds herself stuck raising her spoiled niece (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and nephews (Thomas Barbusca, newcomer Jack Stanton) in affluent Greenwich, CT. It’s pretty much everything she never wanted. Regardless, she’s determined to rise to the occasion and transform these little monsters into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something she knows absolutely nothing about. The series also stars Carla Jimenez and newcomer Scott MacArthur.”

Kaitlin Olson, Sofia Black-D’Elia, Thomas Barbusca, Jack Stanton, Scott MacArthur, and Carla Jimenez star in this amazing show. They are phenomenal.

Kaitlin is amazing. She’s fabulous. She’s comedy goals. I think that part of what makes this show so special is the casting. She’s able to play strong and caring and vulnerable. You see that as screwed up as she is, as many things that have gone wrong, she really just wanted to be loved. She just wants to be a better person to her niece and nephews.

Her sisters been a pretty shitty one.

But that’s what makes Mick want to be good for them. To set boundaries and let them know that their life is worth so much.

But it’s all done in a hilarious way.

THE MICK is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by John Chernin and Dave Chernin, who serve as showrunners. The Chernin brothers, Kaitlin Olson, Nicholas Frenkel, Oly Obst and Scott Marder are executive producers.
