Fangirlish’s FEELS of the Week: August 27th – September 2nd

Welcome to another Sunday of talking about the shows that made us laugh, cry, go awww and, of course, look around and wonder what in the world was happening. If it made us feel things, whether they were good, or bad, then this is where we talk about it. This is where you tell us if you agree. This is where we let it all out.

So, without further ado, here are these week’s picks:

Badass Female Character of the Week

Nora: Arya and Sansa Stark. Man, I’m so happy our girls are working together and Game of Thrones didn’t screw up this relationship! In the season finale, Arya and Sansa rid the world of Littlefinger and it can’t get much more badass than that that. Watching Sansa take down Littlefinger was so satisfying and the icing on the cake was Arya slitting his throat. The Stark sisters are the definition of badass and this week only solidified that.

Chloe: I’ll second Nora on this 100%. The Stark sisters’ takedown of Littlefinger (with an assist from Bran) was long overdue and oh-so-satisfying.

Raquel: Totally agree with Nora and Chloe. The Stark sisters uniting against Littlefinger, doing justice for so many deaths that he has caused, including Ned’s dead, initiating the war between the houses Stark and Lannister, has been magnificent. In addition, later, both have been able to recognize their respective mistakes and I think they have behaved as what each one is: Sansa, Lady of Winterfell and Arya a true warrior.

Lizzie: Though I hated how we got here, I did love the end and Sansa and Arya working together. I especially loved the moral of the story, which for me was that there are many ways to be strong, and that we should respect all of them. Long live the Stark sisters!

OTP of the Week

Nora: Should I be concerned that my OTP of the week involves incest? Probably. Does that stop me from shipping them? Heck no, this is Game of Thrones. My OTP is Jon and Daenerys in the season finale. Jonerys set sail and while Bran chose an inopportune moment to tell Sam that Jon is actually a Targaryen as a voiceover to their sex scene, it was still an amazing moment. At first I shied away from the Jonerys ship, just because I always had the thought that Dany is a strong woman who didn’t need a love interest, but man, I fell hard for these two. Major OTP feels. That sex scene was hot, to say the least.

Raquel: Jonerys. Yes, I know it is an incestuous relationship but…fuck incest, this is Game of Thrones! Incest isn’t an impediment in this show and seeing Jon and Daenerys together, can someone not ship them and want them to reign Westeros together? This relationship was inevitable, both have learned to know each other, to grow together and that attraction was always there…it was a matter of time that it became love and ended in that hot sex scene that we saw.

Chloe: Lending my voice to the Jonerys crowd here. Seeing these two incredible characters grow to trust each other, realize how much they have in common, and come to respect and be attracted to each other was one of my favorite parts of this season of Game of Thrones. And the sex scene was another, just saying.

Lizzie: Sorry, but I’m all about Kadena. What other ship was there? These two have stolen my heart.

Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS

Nora: Every moment between Kadena in the airport on The Bold Type. Watching Kat surprise Adena in the airport was such an amazing moment, but it didn’t start there. Then Kat took Adena on an adorable date, they slept together and sadly Adena had to leave and go back to her country. It was a whirlwind day of romance and everything made me swoon. Kadena just made me collapse into a giant puddle of feels solidifying my love for this OTP.

Raquel: That moment when Jon and Daenerys have sex on Game of Thrones. I have been expect for that for seven seasons, seven long years patiently waiting to see ice and fire FINALLY united.

Lori: Everything Nora said about Kadena. Kat and Adena’s relationship is realistically dramatic and, best of all, there’s little to no chance of one of them falling victim to the Bury Your Gays trope (although Kat is sexually fluid). Where can I find a woman like Adena to tell me I’m beautiful in Persian?

Chloe: Again, I’m with Nora. The Bold Type’s Kadena airport date and heartbreaking parting gave me all the feels. I love that we’re getting to see these immigration issues play out on TV because they are so important and so timely, but at the same time, I just want my ship to get together, damn it.

Lizzie: Look, there was a sex scene in that episode of Game of Thrones, and yet the undignified noises coming out of my mouth at Brienne touching Jaime for a second proved just exactly what the high point of the episode for me was. And that’s without going into that brilliant moment of Cersei looking at Jaime looking at Brienne. ALL. THE. FEELS.

Superhero of the Week

Chloe: Brienne of Tarth. Two words: “Fuck loyalty.” As someone on Twitter so astutely pointed out, that’s all it took to snap seasons of character development back into Jaime. The Kingslayer has left the capital, and I’m excited to see him join the good guys once and for all.

Raquel: Jon Snow. He is faithful to his principles and is sincere in telling Cersei, in the face, that he had already sworn loyalty to his queen, Daenerys, despite the consequences and what they were playing, he bravely confronts the situation, not letting himself be carried by the lie, the blackmail and the hypocrisy of the queen who sits on the Iron Throne.

Lizzie: I know Jaime Lannister didn’t exactly do much this week on Game of Thrones, but just walking away, at this point, is superhero stuff. It’s only been SEVEN SEASONS.

Danielle: Grace standing up to her father on Greenleaf. It was mostly to do with having a gay brother-in-law and defending his sexuality from the judgemental Christian megachurch. But the whole confrontation made me like Grace a little more. The chemistry between Keith David and Merle Dandridge is astounding!

Quote of the Week

Nora: “I’m a slow learner, it’s true. But I learn.” – Sansa Stark, Game of Thrones

Lori: “Alex said he saw a small orange blur.” – Sutton referring to Trump, The Bold Type (Also, throughout this whole episode not once did any of the characters refer to Trump as the president which I thought was hilarious and impressive. Respect to The Bold Type.)

Chloe: “Nevertheless, we will persist. I refuse to cancel a pitch meeting on account of that man.” The Trump hate was real on The Bold Type, and I was so here for it.

Raquel: “Fuck loyalty”. – Brienne of Tarth, Game of Thrones. That’s the key, as soon as White Walkers arrive in Westeros, loyalty to the houses, war for the Throne…nothing matters, they must unite to defeat the common enemy.

Lizzie: Arya Stark: “In winter, we must protect ourselves. Look after one another.”

Sansa Stark: Father. “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.” – Game of Thrones

Danielle: Mariana: “She wants a promposal.”

Brandon: “Like a flash mob?”

Mariana: “Definitely not a flash mob.”

Stef: “I’m so glad I’m not in high school.” – The Fosters

WTF Moment of the Week

Chloe: Cersei’s betrayal on Game of Thrones. Jaime broke it down perfectly: she’ll either die by the ever-growing Army of the Dead or die at the hands of those she screwed over. There’s no happy ending here, and she doesn’t seem to care. The Mad Queen appears to be rising.

Raquel: THAT look from Tyrion as he watched the scene between Jon and Daenerys on Game of Thrones, a disturbing sight that has given wings to thousands of theories.

Lizzie: Look, I’m glad the Arya/Sansa storyline ended the way it ended, but it was still a hot damn mess from start to nearly finish – especially since the writers came out to make it clear that they were NOT on this together from the beginning. Why not just let me interpret it the way I wanted? Just let me be happy, Game of Thrones writers. LET ME BE HAPPY.

Danielle: That whole entire breakup scene between Jesus, Emma and Mariana on The Fosters was handled poorly. Jesus didn’t even try to understand what Emma was saying about the marriage proposal. He’d just made his mind up about breaking up with her, and that was it. “If you don’t want me forever, then I don’t want you at all,” he said. I know his TBI has been on the wire lately, but I can’t use that as an excuse anymore. I’m so sick of his behavior. It was good for Mariana stuck up for Emma though. There has been a lot of tension between the two girls, but it was surprising to see Mariana stick by her, even after the explosive breakup. I just hope that it all gets better because WTF…
