Fangirlish Interviews Wattpad Star ‘Knightsrachel’

Wattpad is a forum with endless talent, spilling over at the seams. With more than 60 million users and 400 million stories available to suit any preference, genre and quirk, at times it can feel daunting trying to find something that fits your unique taste.

But then there are the authors that stand out among those millions, for their talent, their prose, and their ability to draw you into their worlds. One such writer is Rachel, also known as @knightsrachel on Wattpad. Watty winner, Wattpad Star, and all around adorable and awesome chick, Rachel gives us the sweet, sassy and fun romances we all love.

Rachel has been writing on Wattpad since 2011, been featured in several Wattpad anthologies, won multiple Watty awards, and is a member of the romance group RomanceSparks. She is probably best known for her teen fiction hit My Brothers Best Friend, which has more than 110 million reads on the site!

Fangirlish had the chance to get a little inside scoop on what Rachel loves on Wattpad, her favorite stories, and what she would say to others who want to take the leap to writing.

1) What made you decide to use wattpad?
I discovered Wattpad as an accident. My friend was over and told me she was really into this new book, and we always share books. So she introduced me to Wattpad, informing me that the entire platform was based on the access of free books. I’d been writing for YEARS but never expected to share any of my stories with the outside world. But after reading for about a month on Wattpad, I worked up the courage to post my own work, and things just kind of spiralled from there.

2) What is your favorite story on the forum at the moment?
I’m going to be annoying and list two books, one completed and one not. My favorite completed book on Wattpad is No Capes by joecool123. And my favorite book currently in progress on Wattpad is The Midnight Boys by Ali Novak.

3) Tell us a bit about your favorite story of yours on wattpad.
No Capes is a superhero story, which I’m usually not that into. But I love Lizzie as an author, so I decided to give it a try. This book took me on a whirlwind adventure with Hyperion Gold and Dark Static and I loved every second of it. I couldn’t predict the plot twists, and I was blown away by the execution. Once again, Lizzie outdid herself with this one.
The Midnight Boys is by one of my closest friends, so I already knew I was at least going to check it out. What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with it. This book circles around a band of friends that take on the night in different, adventurous ways. And I love each, individual character, with Jamie being my favorite.

4) What has been your proudest author moment?
Getting so many reads on My Brother’s Best Friend. That’s when my parents began to take my writing seriously and when I began to believe that I might actually be able to do this for a living.

5) What would you tell someone who is thinking of writing on wattpad but feeling nervous?
This is more than a storytelling platform. When you join Wattpad, you join a community of people who genuinely care about you and your work. I’ve met some of my closest friends on Wattpad, for which I am extremely grateful. This platform changed my life. And maybe it could change yours too.

Many thanks to Rachel for taking the time to chat with us, and everyone be sure to check out her work! We promise you will love every minute of it!
